While it is nice that dodging one of you every 2-3 feet makes driving like a video game, I worry coz I am not very good at arcade games. And if I lose, it's more Game-Over for you, than for me.
So I hope you will reconsider these stripes on the road. Though painted on and looking good with a red ensemble, these stripes are not meant to serve an aesthetic purpose. They are designed to keep pedestrians together (yes, not one pedestrian crossing every 2-3 feet) where they can be seen by motorists so walking across the flow of vehicular traffic is done at the safest point.
So, dear pedestrian, please keep to your lane when crossing the street. You wouldn't want me driving on the sidewalk, right?
